Saturday, December 3
A Christmas seal cross, described as the “world’s largest,” will be formed by window lights in the Volunteer Building beginning Monday night, Dec. 5, Walter H. Stamper, Christmas seal chairman for the Hamilton County Tuberculosis Association, announced.

Monday, December 5
Joe Fehn, restaurateur and long time leader in the Boy Scout movement in this area, was honored as citizen of the year by the John Sevier Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Wednesday, December 7
The city school board voted to request U.S. District Judge, Leslie R. Darr, to stay his order calling for the board to submit a desegregation plan Dec. 20. The board hopes that it will not be required to submit a plan until a decision has been made on its appeal of Judge Darr’s decision ordering the plan. A hearing on the plan has been set for January 9.

Thursday, December 8
Harry Miller was cited for his 14 years service as a member of the Chattanooga YMCA board of directors and his outstanding work as chairman of the World Service Committee.
