Local general contractor Ethan Collier, president and CEO of Collier Construction, was recently recognized as the Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga’s (HBAGC) Home Builder of the Year.
According to Teresa Groves, executive officer of HBAGC, this annual award recognizes a builder who exemplifies the organization’s mission of promoting quality building practices in the Chattanooga area.
“Collier Construction is known in the community for maintaining excellent standards, so we felt Ethan was very deserving of this award,” said Groves.
In 2009, Collier made a commitment that every new home his company built would be better built certified. This certification program outlines specifications for energy efficient building, as well as requirements for testing upon completion. These evaluations yield tangible data regarding a home’s energy performance. Collier Construction completed its first better built home in 2010, and certification data revealed that the home is actually 36 percent more efficient than a code-built home.
In 2012 alone, Collier Construction has built 11 high-end custom homes and completed 25 other projects, including charitable work such as the new camel track at the Chattanooga Zoo.
“I’m extremely honored to have been named Home Builder of the Year--some great builders have won this award in the past, so I’m among good company on that list,” said Collier. “Beyond that, I think this award also sheds light on what HBAGC is doing to help grow and develop business in our area through its support of the building industry.”
Collier Construction has been a member of HBAGC since 2004. Collier is also involved with the Home Builders Association on both state and national levels.
