The Green Mountain Tennessee vehicle license plate will be obsolete Dec. 31, prompting Hamilton County Clerk Bill Knowles to suggest, “Don’t be late; check your plate.”
“Beginning Jan. 1, law enforcement will easily recognize the obsolete plate,” Knowles says. “Motorists need to be aware of the deadline and obtain the state’s new blue plate to avoid a citation.”
Renewals can be made at the courthouse, at the Bonny Oaks branch, or at www.CountyClerkAnytime.com.
Online registrants should print their confirmation and then place it in their vehicle as proof of renewal while waiting for their plates to arrive.
To renew an expiring plate in person, motorists may use either a current tag receipt or the courtesy registration reminder from the Nashville office.
Motorists who wish to obtain the “In God We Trust” plate must ask for it while visiting the office or click the appropriate box when ordering online.
The clerk’s office will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and be open Dec. 26, Dec. 27 and Jan. 2.
