A Christmas Tail 5K
The Humane Educational Society will host its third annual Christmas Tail 5K run Saturday, Dec. 10 in St. Elmo.
The event will also feature a one-mile Mutt Strut.
Funds raised will benefit the shelter’s special needs fund, which provides lifesaving surgery and medication, as well as heartworm treatment to animals with treatable injuries and illness.
The 5K, a timed competitive race for two-legged participants, will begin at 9 a.m.
The Mutt Strut, for participants of all ages and their canine friends, will start at 9:45 a.m.
Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. at the new St. Elmo Pet Wellness Center, which is located at 3812 Tennessee Avenue.

Parking will be available at Wann Funeral Home, 4000 Tennessee Ave.
Free Christmas concert
The Mid-South Symphonic Band will host a free Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. at Ringgold High School Performing Arts Center, 29 Tiger Trail.
The band will perform classic favorites, music from the “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” and a salsa arrangement of “Good King Wenceslas.”
Founded in 1990, the Mid-South Symphonic Band is composed of 75 musicians from the greater Chattanooga area.
It performs under the direction of Jim Souders.
