Miss Rose Harwood, daughter of Judge Thomas Harwood of Trenton, will come next week to visit Misses Mary Thankful and Mary Anderson Everett en route home from Agnes Scott.
The wedding of Miss Hilda Perry and Mr. Phillip Bailey Whitaker took place last evening at 8:00 in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Sumner Perry in Ferger Place. The spacious and beautiful home was harmoniously decorated throughout for the occasion, to which 200 guests had been invited.
Miss Margaret McCallie will come home Tuesday from Agnes Scott to spend the Christmas holidays.
Sunday, Dec. 20
Mercer Clementson, who’s attending Central High School, left Friday for Charleston, Tenn., to spend Christmas at home.
The Chattanooga Writers’ Club will meet Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. C.C. Huntington in the Hardwick-Hogshead Apartments. Members are requested to be on time.
Mr. Carroll R. Stegall and Miss Sarah Valdes were married in Elmira, N.Y., Friday, Dec. 18. They will come to Chattanooga to spend the holidays.
Monday, Dec. 21
Cartter Patten of Shaw’s School and David Key of Groton School are home for the holidays.
Miss Betty Andrews arrived Saturday night from Castle-on-the-Hudson to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents.
The Oscar Seagle Concert for the benefit of the Community Christmas Tree, the Associated Charities, and the Belgian Relief Fund, is to be given at the Lyric Theater. Those who have reserved boxes are Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Lupton, Mr. and Mrs. Garnett Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. George D. Lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Huff, Mrs. G.F. Milton, Mrs. Wheatley, and Mrs. Scholze. Tickets are on sale at the Palace and at S.T. & W.A. Dewees Co.
Tuesday, Dec. 22
Dr. and Mrs. Dunbar Newell gave a dinner for Dr. and Mrs. Randolph Winslow and Miss Betty Winslow of Baltimore last evening. The Winslows will return to their home this week.
Miss Ruth Byrd will return tomorrow night from Columbia University, N.Y., for the Christmas holidays.
Mrs. C.E. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Campbell, and Don Campbell will spend the Christmas holidays in Tullahoma.
Dr. and Mrs. J.A. Chambliss of Jefferson City came last night to be with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Chambliss en route to Brownsville to visit Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Chambliss.
Wednesday, Dec. 23
Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Faucette and children will spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Sanford on Signal Mountain.
Miss Anne Becker and Val G. Klein were married Monday night in the study of Dr. J.W. Bachman, who performed the ceremony.
Miss Blanche Divine of Carters, Ga., will come the 30th to be the guest of Mrs. Henry Grady.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wise will keep open house as usual New Year’s Day at their home on Missionary Ridge. Mrs. Wise will give a musicale at 11 a.m. for the benefit of charities, and the informal reception will follow in the afternoon.
Thursday, Dec. 24
Miss Wessie Bowen returned home last night from Randolph-Macon to spend Christmas at home.
King Fritts will arrive this morning from Vanderbilt. Lee Tolley, of Columbia, Tenn., will visit Mr. Fritts during the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Rose and Miss Lucy Rose are at their mountain home after spending a few days at the Patten on their return from the east.
Friday, Dec. 25
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Duff are in Knoxville for Christmas.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Marr and children of Flint, Mich., will arrive Jan. 1st to spend some time on Signal Mountain. They have leased one of the stone cottages there.
Commander and Mrs. David Foote Sellers are expected from New York in about two weeks to visit the Hon. and Mrs. H. Clay Evans. Mrs. Evans is also expecting her sister, Mrs. Terry, from Washington, for a visit next month.
Miss Ellen Wood of Birmingham is spending Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Wood.
