Realtor Teresa Clegg received an early Christmas present last week when she won the Charlotte Mabry Team’s third ACE Club drawing. The prize: $10,000.
The “ACE” in “ACE Club” stands for Agent Circle of Excellence. To participate in a drawing, an agent must sell at least one of Mabry’s ACE Club listings. Mabry holds a drawing every time agents have sold 40 Ace Club homes.
Clegg couldn’t believe her luck. A Keller Williams agent since 2010, she became eligible for the drawing when she sold a Lakeside listing. Clegg came to the giveaway, held Dec. 10 at Bluewater Grille, more excited about chatting with fellow agents than the possibility of winning the money. When Mabry drew her business card out of a bowl and called her name, she was stunned.
“I didn’t think I’d win. I’m thrilled,” Clegg said after the drawing, still trying to catch her breath. She plans to donate ten percent to her church and spend the rest on a new car.
“We love doing this,” Mabry said. “It’s a great way to thank our friends who help us sell our houses.”
The money for an ACE Club drawing comes from the sellers of the ACE Club homes. Sellers must designate their residence as an ACE Club house, and once the home sells, place a specific amount of money in a kitty. After agents have sold 40 houses, the kitty is large enough for Mabry to give away ten grand.
Mabry said her team’s ACE Club houses are selling an average of 30 days faster. “Agents are motivated to sell those houses,” she says. “They want to be part of the drawing.”
While up to 40 agents could take part in an ACE Club drawing, there were only about 30 at last week’s event, as some had sold more than one ACE Club house. Agents from Crye-Leike, Berkshire Hathaway, EXIT Realty, and more were among the group that enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, conversation, and the excitement of the giveaway.
Mabry was pleased about having provided a networking opportunity. “Years ago, agents would get together and network. No one does that anymore,” she said. “This is an opportunity for these agents to be in a room together and talk about real estate.”
With Clegg having won the third drawing, the tally begins for a fourth. Agents wishing to participate can call Mabry at (423) 664-1900 and ask for a list of ACE Club houses.
