The Salvation Army’s Christmas presence is back downtown after a lapse of more than 30 years.
However, instead of reappearing at its former spot at the corner of 8th and Broad Streets (the old American National Bank plaza) it has moved one-and-a-half blocks east to 109 E. 8th St., the home of Herman Walldorf & Company Realtors.
Domiciled downtown since 1926, Walldorf will be receiving cash donations in its Salvation Army Kettle, canned goods for the Army’s pantry, blankets and unopened hotel toiletries for the homeless Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Christmas.
Its agents are available to receive these contributions.
“Please help us support the Salvation Army in all that it does for the less fortunate in our city,” said Nathan Walldorf, secretary treasurer at Herman Walldorf.
