Teresa Clegg’s journey to real estate is a testament to her dedication, versatility and passion for helping others.
From her early days with BellSouth to raising a family and assisting her husband with his home-building career, Teresa has embraced every phase of her life with purpose.
As a respected Realtor and member of the Greater Chattanooga Realtors board of directors, Teresa brings her rich experience, strong leadership and commitment to serving her peers and community with unwavering enthusiasm.
What did you do before transitioning into this profession?
“Before moving to Tennessee 34 years ago, I worked as an administrative assistant for a vice president at BellSouth. After moving to Tennessee, I was a full-time mom to a daughter and son for several years.
“My husband became a licensed builder in the 1990s upon earning a degree in construction. Early in his career, I helped him with the interior selections and colors for his spec homes.
“When my children reached school age, I was very involved with their schools’ activities and PTAs. Once my children graduated from high school and college, I decided it was time for my career. I worked in a real estate office for two years before studying for and earning my real estate license.”
Why did you choose to serve on the board of directors?
“After being a Realtor for several years, I wanted to become more involved and serve in various ways to grow as a leader and give back to the real estate community. Initially, I became a Women’s Council of Realtors member and served as secretary for one year and events director twice. I was also in charge of fundraising for the Women’s Council for one year. We organized an event that raised $10,000.
“I’ve also served for several years on the Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC) at Greater Chattanooga Realtors.
“Last year, I decided I’d love to serve at a higher level, be more involved and help represent the best interests of our real estate community. Serving on the board of directors has been an honor and a privilege.”
What would you like your peers to know about what our association offers to its members?
“We have a wonderful association. The entire staff works tirelessly to provide its members with quality education, much of which is free of charge to our members. There are many opportunities to attend educational classes that will help you secure designations. Our association constantly works with and through the committees to provide our membership with the most up-to-date operation possible.”
What is your favorite part about being a Realtor?
“I’ve worked with many buyers and sellers over the years. Selling new construction for my husband has always been fun. Meeting the buyers and watching their excitement through the selection process is thrilling.
“Many of my buyers were relocating to Chattanooga, and I enjoyed helping them to navigate the city and find the right location to call home. I’ve also worked with sellers in many different stages of life. Being there for my buyers and sellers and helping them to navigate their life situations and either sell their home or buy a home has been tremendously rewarding. I love knowing I helped them move on to the next phase of their lives.
“Many of my fellow Realtors give back to our community in ways that make a difference in the daily lives of others. One of these is the Snack Pack Ministry, which our very own Janice Robertson started and runs. This ministry helps a great many children in our community. I encourage you to help prep snack packs one Wednesday morning or evening. Also, my brokerage, Real Estate Partners, raises money for Wreaths Across Chattanooga each year. With the funds raised, we purchase wreaths and place them on the graves at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.”
Through her work as a Realtor, leader and community advocate, Teresa embodies the values of dedication and service. Whether she’s guiding clients through life-changing transitions or giving back through impactful initiatives like Snack Pack Ministry and Wreaths Across Chattanooga, her influence is felt far and wide.
Teresa’s story serves as an inspiration and reminds us of the power of passion, collaboration and making a difference in the lives of others. #ThatsWhoWeR
