Accompanied by a six-car police escort, complete with blaring sirens and flashing
blue lights, two semi-trailer trucks arrived at the Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults offices on Oak Street Friday, Dec. 6 loaded with Christmas gifts donated
by Unum. This is the 14th year the insurance company has adopted hundreds of Partnership clients for Christmas, fulfilling wish lists for children, homebound elderly, homeless women, and families. All gifts are purchased by Unum employees who work together in teams to select wish lists, shop for items, wrap, and deliver the gifts.
Participating Unum employees gathered at Unum Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. to kick off the delivery and then proceeded to five Partnership locations to deliver the gifts. Unum employees hand-delivered the gifts to each location. Partnership staff will deliver the gifts to client homes before Christmas.
“Many of our clients don’t have the resources to make Christmas happen in their own homes. We want them to know people do care about them, and we want their families to have a nice Christmas,” said Karen Murphy, resource development director at Partnership. Murphy is organizing this year’s Holiday Cheer campaign, which collects Christmas gifts for Partnership’s neediest clients.
Several clients still need to be adopted for Christmas. Wish list items include everything from traditional Christmas gifts of games, toys, and music for children to essentials of living like soap, lotion, shoes and food for the elderly.
