A group of Chattanooga’s leading businessmen Thursday visited the Koehring Southern Division Plant on Manufacturer’s Road after a luncheon at Pan-O-Ram Club given by Koehring officials. The reopened plant will mean upward of $2 million in payrolls and another million in items purchased from Chattanooga dealers in a year.
Officials of the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary of Erlanger and Children’s Hospitals Friday announced the completion of its 1964 project of raising $75,000 to be applied toward the cost of air conditioning sections of Erlanger. Mrs. Ray Lorentz, president of the auxiliary, made the announcement.

The Chattanooga High School Marching Band, with directors J.S. Tilson and A.R. Casavant, will leave Tuesday to perform for 5,000 delegates from United States and Canada attending the 18th annual MidWest National Band Clinic.
Monday, Dec. 14
The board of directors of Richmond Hosiery Mills, Inc., Rossville, Ga., announced the appointment of Albert A. Steiner to the position of president of the corporation. Mr. Steiner replaces B.A. McCall, who is retiring from active service with the firm but will remain with the corporation as a consultant.
V. Patrick Ellis has been named president of Lookout Mountain Tarpaulin Co., Inc. He succeeds the late D. Garvin Nolan.

Bert Brown, Rossville automobile dealer and president of the Rossville Development Corp.,
was honored by the Industrial Committee of 100 of the Greater Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce for his efforts in contributing to the economic growth of Rossville. Mr. Brown was presented a handsomely engraved plaque by George Richardson, chairman of the Industrial Committee of 100.
A program of modernization and expansion to cost in excess of $1 million has been announced by Lookout Oil and Refining Co. at its Alton Park plant.
Wednesday, Dec. 16
W.C. Moser, DuPont Company’s nylon plant manager here, was named production manager in the firm’s textile department. He will be succeeded at the Chattanooga plant by Robert A. Kasey, Jr., currently assistant plant manager at DuPont’s Old Hickory operation.
John K. Williams, president and general manager of Hotel Patten, was elected president of the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau at the 24th annual meeting in the Bureau boardroom at Memorial Auditorium. Williams succeeds Paul S. Mathes.
Thursday, Dec. 17
A fleet of National Guard trucks hauled water to 750 Walden’s Ridge families Wednesday after the area’s water system pumps broke down the day before. The trucks towed 500-gallon tank trailers, filled with water at Signal Mountain Fire Hall, to five points of distribution on Taft Highway.
Friday, Dec. 18
Postmaster O.M. Spence will receive a presidential citation in recognition for an achievement of the Chattanooga postal system, which placed sixth in the nation and first in the Memphis region in a special program designated by the Post Office Department’s “Operation Teamwork,” it was announced Thursday.
