Mr. and Mrs. J.I. Carter and Mrs. W.A. Jones are home from Sweetwater.

Miss Leonora Miller, who’s studying voice at the New England Conservatory, will spend Christmas in Bridgeport, Conn.

Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Miller of Columbia, S.C. will come next week to spend the Christmas holidays with Dr. and Mrs. N.J. Mayes.

Mr. and Mrs. William Clift arrived Wednesday night from Mississippi. They are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. M.H. Clift.

Sunday, Dec. 13

Mrs. Gaither Jones of Beaumont, Texas, the former Katherine Lanier of Missionary Ridge, will be the matron of honor in the wedding of Miss Leonora Norvell of Beaumont and Mr. Ernest Latta of Hot Springs. Miss Norvell was a frequent visitor here in the home of Mrs. J.M. Lanier.

Mrs. C.C. Crawford, who has been visiting in New York, will leave Dec. 18 with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heiser (the former Miss Helen Whiteside), who will motor from New York City to Chattanooga in their touring car for a holiday visit to Mr. and Mrs. John M. Rawling.

Mr. and Mrs. John Chambliss and children will be with Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Sizer for the Christmas week.

Monday, Dec. 14

Mr. and Mrs. George H. Patten and daughter arrived from St. Louis yesterday to attend the Patten – Guerry wedding.

Mrs. F.H. Dowler is in Dalton visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dowler.

Miss Gladys Riggs will entertain on Dec. 23 with a dance at her home on Oak Street.

Miss Ellen Converse will return home for the holidays Wednesday from Morristown, where she went a few weeks ago to accept a position as teacher of domestic science.

Tuesday, Dec. 15

Mrs. Sarah Frawley announces the engagement of her daughter, Regina, to Mr. James R. Beauchant of Memphis. A popular young socialite, Miss Frawley is the sister of Mrs. John Duffy and Messrs. I.G., Fred A., Spencer, and Raymond Frawley, all well-known young men. Mrs. Beauchant is connected with the Union Planters Bank in Memphis, and is a well-known clubman of that city.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Spears and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Dewees, Jr., will go to Jasper for the holidays.

Mrs. E.T. Newell will be hostess to the Wednesday afternoon Bridge Club tomorrow.

Mrs. Jesse Littleton and little daughter are in Winchester visiting Judge and Mrs. Floyd Estill.

Wednesday, Dec. 16

The Chattanooga Woman’s Club has offered one-year dues to the first member of the club who takes the marriage vows after New Year’s Day. Mrs. Hugh H. Embrey is the author of the plan. The club also endorsed a movement started by the Maxwell Motor Company to secure young women demonstrators for their cars.

Bruce McIsaac and Ed Boyd returned Monday from Sewanee.

Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Brock will go to Estill Springs to spend Christmas with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Bobo.

C.M. Bell will arrive from Oklahoma to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Bell, and will also visit Mr. and Mrs. I.B. Merriam, Jr.

Thursday, Dec. 17

Mrs. Caroline Richmond will entertain the evening of Jan. 1 with a dance at Hotel Patten for her debutante daughter, Miss Ruth Richmond, who arrived Tuesday night from New York City.

Thomas Willingham will spend Christmas at Arcadia, Fla., with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Willingham. He and his brother, Archie, will go on a hunting trip.

Charles D. Newman will come from Minneapolis to visit his mother, Mrs. M.F. Newman and sisters, Mrs. Walter Cummings and Mrs. E.F. Wheland.

Frank Roan of Columbus, Ohio, will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Annis for the holidays.

Friday, Dec. 18

Miss Fannie Dempsey and Mr. S. Kelley O’Rear were quietly married last night during a ceremony that took place in the Catholic rectory. Father Francis T. Sullivan officiated. Attendants were T.P. McMahon and Mrs. Minnie Connor.

Miss Miriam Hawkins has returned from Fairmont College, Monteagle, to spend the holidays with her parents, Prof. and Mrs. G.A. Hawkins. She was accompanied by Misses Dorothy Hickson, Mabel Meffert, May Hall, and Starr Chaney, who left for Florida after a one-day stay here.

Mrs. Z.B. McClellan has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. W.G. Thomas, in Eldorado, Ark.

Miss Cora McClellan will come on the 23rd from Greensboro, N.C. to visit her sister, Mrs. L.F. Wilkerson.
