Crabtree Farm’s Fall Fair
Crabtree Farm’s Fall Fair will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at the farm, located at 1000 East 30th Street. The family friendly event will feature fun-on-the-farm activities such as tractor rides, competition for prizes, scarecrow stuffing, a photo booth corn hole and horseshoes, tours and live bluegrass music. The event will also feature a raffle with items from local artisans and businesses. Guests are encouraged to bring their own food to fry in local lard or pick up a brat from The Missing Link. Cumberland Trail Hike
The Chattanooga Hiking Club will host a group hike on the Cumberland Trail through Soddy Gorge. The moderately difficult, seven-mile hike will take participants by some old and new mining sites before ending at the new Deep Creek climbing area. Call hike leader Boodie Fox at 423-842-1178 for the starting location and time. (The club does not publicly reveal the starting location and time.)

Community Walk to Stop Diabetes
The American Diabetes Association will sponsor a Community Walk to Stop Diabetes beginning at 1 p.m. at Shelter 4 of the Tennessee Riverpark, located near the playground at 4301 Amnicola Highway. Participants will walk along the Tennessee River to raise awareness of and funds for diabetes. A bike ride for the cause will also take place starting at 2 p.m. Partners & Peers for Diabetes Care, as well as Life Care Center of East Ridge, will sponsor a booth at the event at which walkers can take part in the Big Blue Test. Before the walk begins, the staff at the booth will check the blood sugar of willing participants with a finger prick. The staff will record the results and then check the blood sugar of willing participants again after the walk. The Big Blue Test shows the impact of exercise on blood sugar levels and diabetes. For every test completed, the program sponsor will donate funds to fight diabetes through education and treatment. History Center presents third gallery talk
The Chattanooga History Center will present the third session in its series of programs previewing the exhibit galleries that will be in its new facility at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza. “The Drum Is Beating and I Must Go” will be held in the History Center’s meeting room at 7 p.m. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by Monday, November 12. CHC Executive Director and Historian Dr. Daryl Black will lead the examination of the third gallery visitors will encounter as they move through the new exhibit space. In addition to discussing the historical story, participants will learn the reasons specific artifacts were chosen for exhibit in this gallery and will examine some of the artifacts.

Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run
The Annual Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run will take place at the Tennessee River Park Shelter No. 3, located at 4301 Amnicola Highway. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis will feature a five-kilometer timed run, a one-mile fun run and walk, and a Santa Chase for kids from two to five years old. Grateful Gobbler Walk
The 13th Annual Grateful Gobbler Walk will be held on Thanksgiving Day. Early registration is available at www.gratefulgobbler.org. Late registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning at Walker Pavilion. There will be a turkey costume contest at 7:45 a.m. at the stage in Coolidge Park and ceremonies will begin at the stage at 8:00 a.m. Walkers will begin the three-mile course at 8:30 a.m. The Grateful Gobbler raises awareness and generates resources to serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Chattanooga region.

Families on the Run
For many people in the community, First Things First’s Families on the Run kicks off the holiday season. Now in its 8th year, this year’s event will take place on Saturday, December 1 and will consist of competitive 5K and 10K races and a non-competitive Santa Stroll. The course will begin and ends at the Hunter Museum of American Art. Registration begins at 6 a.m. and the race starts at 7:45 a.m. Participants may enter as individuals, as a family, or as a couple. All proceeds from Families on the Run benefit First Things First, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening marriages and families in the Chattanooga area.
