Chattanooga attorney Flossie Weill has joined an elite group of jurists in Chattanooga who are known as Lionesses of the Bar.
The Southeast Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women last week named Weill its 2020 Lioness of the Bar. Each year, SETLAW bestows the honor on a local woman attorney or judge for her “exemplary legal expertise, strong community involvement, dedication to SETLAW and furtherance of the careers of female attorneys,” the program for the 2020 ceremony reads.
Weill is the seventh recipient of the award, which SETLAW established in 2014. Past recipients include the late Selma Cash Paty (2014), Virginia Love (2015), the Hon. Marie Williams (2016), Marcy Eason (2017), Tonya Cammon (2018) and U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Lee (2019).
Weill is known not only for her distinguished legal practice but also for her mentorship of upcoming female attorneys, according to the program. She has been involved with SETLAW since its inception and has not only received the benefits of mentorship but also passed them on.
Weill has maintained her legal practice while also serving as a municipal judge of Lookout Mountain. Her practice areas include estate planning, wrongful death, personal injury, civil litigation and workers’ compensation.
Weill is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and the University of Tennessee College of Law.
