The U.S. Census Bur-eau has officially listed Chattanooga’s 1960 population at 130,009, a loss of 1,032 over the past ten years.
Monday, November 28
Commissioner Pat Wil-cox on Monday announced he would recommend the
appointment of Ellis Spen-cer, office engineer of the city department of public works, as acting engineer ,effective December 1.
Tuesday, November 29
The high of 74 in Chattanooga gave the city its warmest November 28 on record, surpassing by one degree the record of 73 established in 1927.
Thursday, December 1
The police patrol of Chattanooga will be supplemented by six patrol cars, manned by two men, each equipped with riot guns, during the Christmas season, Commissioner Dunlap announced Wednesday. The special patrol will operate at night for the purpose of coping with attempts at break-ins, robberies and hold-ups, which usually increase during the Christmas season.
