December2: Bike2Work
Outdoor Chattanooga will host a monthly Bike2Work breakfast at Miller Plaza’s Waterhouse Pavilion from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Bicycle commuters are invited to enjoy Velo Coffee Roasters brew, Monkey Town Donuts, good fellowship and useful prizes from River City Bicycles. December 2: Live on Stage: Emperor’s New Clothes
The Chattanooga Theatre Centre on this day will host a performance of “Emperor’s New Clothes.” The performance by Maria Chattin-Carter and cast will begin at 7:30 p.m. and conclude at 9:30 p.m. In the play, the season of festivals is upon the land and the emperor needs new duds. Two con men take advantage of the amiable ruler and possibly teach him a much-needed lesson. This is a Youth Theatre performance. Tickets are $8 and $10. December 6: Government Contracting Workshops
PTA 101 covers the basics of government contracting. PTA 102 covers advanced government contracting. The workshops will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, located at 100 Cherokee Boulevard. The workshops will be free to attend. December 8: Alison Lebovitz Reading, Jewish Cultural Center, 7:00 p.m.
Author Alison Lebovitz will read selections from “Am I There Yet?” and sign books at this dessert reception. There’s no cost for the evening, and Alison will donate a portion of the evening’s book sales to the Jewish Federation. For more information, contact Ann Treadwell at 493-0270, ext. 13.
December 10: Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge Kayak Trip
Outdoor Chattanooga will host an annual kayak tour of the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge beginning at 10 a.m. This trip offers participants a unique view of the annual Sandhill Crane migration, as well as chances to watch the resident population of Bald Eagles, Osprey, and assorted waterfowl up close. Cost is $35 per person and includes all kayaking gear and transportation to and from Greenway Farm. Reservations are required.
