The Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau’s executive committee has unanimously elected Keith Sanford, president and CEO of the Tennessee Aquarium, chairman of the board.
This new appointment was necessary due to the resignation of Tom Cupo of The Chattanoogan Hotel. The property, which has been managed by Benchmark Resorts and Hotels, was recently sold. Cupo will be transferring to a Benchmark property in Virginia.
With the shift in chairmen, additional positions opened on the executive committee. Lisa Maragnano, CARTA’s executive director, has been named treasurer. Johnny O’Brien, owner of High Point Climbing & Fitness, has been added to the executive committee.
In addition, Allen Corey of STIR has been added to the search committee to find a new CVB president and CEO. This decision was made in order to have restaurant representation.
The CVB announced earlier this year that Bob Doak, president and CEO, will be retiring in early 2018.
Harwood to lead medical group
Jeffrey Harwood, lead nuclear medicine PET/CT technologist at CHI Memorial, has been named president of Nuclear Medicine Technologists of Tennessee, a nonprofit organization that promotes the science, technology and practical application of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
Harwood has been a regional representative of NMTT since 2013 as well as a speaker at the last four annual meetings. He will serve as president of NMTT for the 2017-18 term.
Prior to joining CHI Memorial in August 2008, Harwood received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. He worked at Womack Army Medical Center in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as lead technologist. Harwood also currently serves on the membership committee for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist Section.
