White House volunteer decorator Brandon Carruth will host decorating clinics the first three Saturdays of November at The Great Christmas Shop in Chattanooga. Gallery Hop 2018
Gallery Hop 2018 gives the public a chance to visit and support local art galleries and artists’ studios. Coordinated by a collective of arts professionals, Gallery Hop will feature exhibits, art demonstrations, interactive activities, music and culinary tasting. Sculptures in the Sky
Sculpture Fields is partnering with River City Kites, Chattanooga Presents River Rocks and Gallery Hop for Sculptures in the Sky, a free event taking place Saturday, Nov. 3, noon-6 p.m., 1800 Polk St. In addition to colossal kites, stunt kites and Rokkaku battle kites, the event will feature food trucks and a beer tent.

Mountain View Bluegrass Festival
The Chattanooga Market will host two bluegrass performances on the EPB Stage on Sunday, Nov. 4. Bluetastic Fangrass will take the stage at 1 p.m. for an hour of original bluegrass, swing and “swampy blues.” The show will feature Lou Wamp, a 30-year bluegrass veteran who’s toured with James Monroe & the Midnight Ramblers, Blue Moon Rising and other nationally known acts. The Lone Mountain Band will begin an hour of traditional bluegrass music at 2:30 p.m.
Mid-South Symphonic Band concert
The Mid-South Symphonic Band will celebrate the end of daylight savings time with a free concert at Volkswagen Conference Center. The performance will take place Sunday, Nov. 4, 3 p.m. at 8001 Volkswagen Dr. The Mid-South Symphonic Band is an all-volunteer organization comprised of 75 musicians. Information
Ashwood Square grand opening
Carol and Kevin Maddock, the live-in managers of the newly-built Ashwood Square Retirement Community, will host a grand opening to introduce the resort-style 55-and-older senior community on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2-6 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public. Ashwood Square is located at 7683 Shallowford Road.
Crisis intervention training opportunity
Southern Adventist University’s School of Education and Psychology this month will offer a crisis-intervention training program. The training is open to nurses, counselors, social workers, teachers, clergy, law enforcement and other crisis responders.
The training will lead to two separate certifications from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation: Group crisis intervention and individual crisis intervention and peer support. It will require 8 a.m.-5 p.m. attendance at three Sunday sessions: Nov. 11, Nov. 18 and Dec. 2. Continuing education credit is available.

WTCI to host annual family day event
WTCI will host its annual Family Day on Sunday, Nov. 11, 1-4 p.m., at 7540 Bonnyshire Drive. The free event will feature green screen activities, storybook reading, a petting zoo, tours of a Chattanooga Fire Department fire engine, face painting, games, activities and more.
Photo opportunities will be available for children with Clifford, Curious George and Super Why! Guests are invited to bring a gently-used book to benefit Hamilton County Department of Education schools and a canned good item or new socks to support Chattanooga Community Kitchen.
