Stephen Kabalka, a corporate attorney with experience in the transportation, logistics and manufacturing industries, has joined Baker Donelson as of counsel in the firm’s Chattanooga office.
Kabalka provides strategic advice on legal matters related to commercial transactions; customer, vendor and supply contracts; confidentiality agreements; and other business issues.
Bruce Doeg, co-chair of Baker Donelson’s Privacy and Technology Center of Excellence and leader of its Digital Health Initiative, says, “Companies are coming to understand the extent to which their contracting process can become a significant competitive advantage. Before joining Baker Donelson, Kabalka worked for more than 14 years as in-house corporate counsel at several companies in the transportation and manufacturing industries, including a recent position as senior director and legal counsel at a global freight transportation and logistics company, where he supervised and guided the commercial contract department for North American transportation and handled a broad range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters and commercial business disputes.
Kabalka’s in-house counsel experience also includes serving as corporate counsel at a nationwide transportation, logistics and warehousing services provider, division associate counsel at a leading producer of bleach and chlor akali products in North America, and associate general counsel for one of the largest trucking companies in the U.S.
Before his in-house roles, Kabalka had more than a decade of litigation and appellate experience.
Kabalka is a cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Tennessee Law Review.
He is a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association and Chattanooga Bar Association.
