The situation of the diphtheria epidemic is becoming serious. A conference will be held to decide what’s best to do. Normal Park School seems to be the hardest hit, as over half of the pupils are under quarantine.
Sunday, Nov. 15
Miss Virginia Pope of Jasper, Tenn., who has been the guest of Miss Elizabeth Downing on McCallie Avenue, will return home tomorrow.
Monday, Nov. 16
Major C.D. McGuffey was the speaker at the Rotary Club today. The meeting was in honor of the 33 years of service by the Association of Mercy. Only four of the original members are still living. Dr. J.W. Bachman was the first to apply for charter. Others are John Scott (an English man), D.J. Chandler, and C.P. Robertson. The club in their first day of canvass got $2,852.00.
Tuesday, Nov. 17
Thousands visited the opening of the new Public Market House on Market Square. Fifty-eight producers sold from their wagons at the curb or at inside stalls. Market Master Hugh Fry was complimented on the results. A good western steak was from 10 to 15 cents a pound.
Wednesday, Nov. 18
Mr. and Mrs. E.Y. Chapin entertained Tuesday night at the Masonic Temple in honor of their daughter, Elise, who was presented to Chattanooga Society.
The wedding of Rebekah Lamar Devine and Henry Veach Grady will be celebrated today at the home of the bride in Carters, Ga.
Thursday, Nov. 19
The Interchurch Federation, under the direction of W.H. Sears, has invited W.C. Fowler of Chicago of the National Organization of Boy Scouts of America to come to Chattanooga to supervise the organization of Scout troops. Chattanooga is the only city of its size and importance not to have a Boy Scout organization. The committee that will serve with Mr. Sears is composed of W.L. Frierson, Lavens Thomas, C.E. Houston, E.H. Rolston, and H.D. Huffaker.
Miss Louise Hall of Gurley, Ala., who has been visiting in Charleston, West Va., has arrived to be the guest of Mrs. Luther Swann.

The sponsors elected by Baylor for the Baylor-McCallie game are Misses Josephine Whiteside, Josephine Turner, Gloria Lamb, Dorothy Aull, and Katherine Henderson.
