Orange Grove Center is asking area businesses and individuals to participate in two free recycling days this November. A partnership between Orange Grove and Unum will take place Friday, Nov. 13 in celebration of America Recycles Day, and on Thursday, Nov. 19, Orange Grove will host a free shred and electronic recycling day.
America Recycles Day, a program of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Orange Grove is partnering with Unum to celebrate the community-wide initiative.
Everyone is invited to drop off unwanted, recyclable items to be collected by volunteers with Unum’s Green Team, the organizers of the event. Orange Grove Center is offering free secured document destruction, with no limits on quantities. Fast Break Athletics will collect used tennis shoes, which will be repurposed for those in need. Goodwill Industries will be present to collect computers and computer accessories, such as printers and monitors. Goodwill will also accept clothing and fabric items, gently used furniture, and home wares. Items will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the Republic Parking lot at the corner of 4th and Walnut Streets.
On Thursday, Nov. 19, Orange Grove Center will host a free shred and electronic recycling day for all residents, local businesses, and anyone wishing to securely destroy and recycle their unwanted paper materials and computers. Items will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John. F. Germ Recycling Center at Orange Grove on Dodson Avenue. No televisions will be accepted.
