Women of Distinction names 2021 honorees

The Women of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga will honor 10 women this month as 2021 Women of Distinction.

This year’s honorees are Dr. Valerie Boaz, Sandy Brandt Chambers Dittus, Becky Fuller Hansard, Dr. Shewanee Howard-Baptiste, Donna Fitch Lawrence, Daisy Maurya-Ballard, Dr. Cathie Smith, Anne Marie Stone, Amy Walden and Caroline McGuire Walker.

The Women of Distinction luncheon will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. Tickets are $75 and are available at womenofdistinctiongc.com.

Masks and social distancing will be required.

In 1985, Loveman’s began an annual tradition of recognizing 10 of Chattanooga’s best dressed women for their sense of style and fashion. Since then, the award has evolved to symbolize the contributions women have made to the Chattanooga community.

The Women of Distinction steering committee chooses the honorees from the pool of applications the community submits. Selection is based on leadership, volunteerism and civic involvement.

The Women of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga has honored more than 330 women since 1985.

Proceeds from the Women of Distinction luncheon will benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Contributions will be used to purchase books for children in Hamilton County.

The Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation will match the amount money given.
