Plastic surgeon Dr. Larry Sargent has opened a full-time practice in Chattanooga. He returns after five years in Salt Lake City.
Sargent concentrates on craniofacial surgery, maxillofacial trauma and cosmetic surgery. He’s appeared on the nationally syndicated show “The Doctors,” where he discussed his techniques in craniofacial surgery.
His new office, located at 2290 Ogletree Ave., has a state-certified operative suite for all cosmetic procedures.
Sargent has a 30-year history in Chattanooga, where he founded and served as director of the Tennessee Craniofacial Center at The Children’s Hospital. He was also professor and chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine for over 20 years.
Sargent was inducted into The Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars in 2002. In 2016, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Erlanger/UT Health System Foundation.
He has given over 170 presentations worldwide and wrote more than 100 publications, including several books.
Sargent’s mission work has been featured in documentaries on TLC, Discovery Channel and National Geographic. He will be featured in a documentary to be released in 2022 in which he will discuss advancements made in craniofacial surgery.
CHI Memorial names board for 2021-22
Julie Brandao is the new chair of the board of directors for CHI Memorial Foundation, the fundraising arm of CHI Memorial.
Dr. Deanna Gardenhire Brown, Patti Dungan and Dr. Betsy Washburn are new members of the CHI Memorial Foundation board of directors.
Brown is a native Chattanoogan and alumna of Girls Preparatory School. She received her education at Belmont University, the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center and Case Western Reserve University. Brown completed her residency at MetroHealth Medical Center Dermatology.
In 2014, Brown obtained board-certification through the American Board of Dermatology and returned to her hometown to practice dermatology. She sees patients of all ages for a variety of skin issues, including surgery and cosmetics.
Brown is also a consulting staff member for CHI Memorial hospitals and a member of the CHI Memorial Melanoma Center of Excellence Committee.
Additionally, she served on the planning committee for the Elizabeth R. Smith Melanoma 5K Run in 2021 and as vice chair of the board of directors of the Chattanooga Ballet for two years.
Dungan is also a native of Chattanooga. Her relationship with CHI Memorial began in the 1970s while visiting friends and relatives as inpatients. In high school, she served as a part-time employee in the hospital admissions office.
Dungan is a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She earned a degree in organizational management from Covenant College and a master’s in human resources from the University of Scranton.
Her leadership career began with roles in the hospitality industry with Marriott Corporation’s Contract Division and Five Star Food Service’s Corporate Leadership team.
Researching the potential for a career in health care resulted in the opportunity to join Chattem locally as the head of human resources for a little more than a decade. Currently, Dungan works in a consulting capacity.
Her community service includes volunteer work with United Way, Catholic Charities of East Tennessee, the Philanthropic Educational Organization (where she raises education funds for women), the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Women’s Ministry and Friends of CHI Memorial Council.
Washburn is a fellowship-trained breast oncology surgeon with CHI Memorial Breast Care Associates. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and medical degree from Medical College of Georgia.
Washburn completed her general surgery residency at Medical College of Georgia and her breast oncology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital.
She currently serves as surgical director for the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center at CHI Memorial and is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and American Society of Breast Diseases.
Beyond her profession, Washburn serves as secretary of the board of directors of the International Allied Missions.
SouthEast Bank welcomes Reeves
SouthEast Bank has selected Roy Reeves as a vice president in Chattanooga. With more than 13 years of experience in the financial services industry, Reeves is responsible for helping expand the bank’s growth locally.
A Chattanooga area native, Reeves volunteers at his church and supports World Vision and Love Without Reason. He is also a member of the East Ridge Pickleball League.
First Horizon taps Kyle for branch manager
First Horizon Bank recently named John Kyle manager of the First Horizon banking center in East Ridge. The financial services veteran brings more than 20 years of experience to the role.
Kyle began his career as a mortgage loan officer and then as a title insurance account executive. He later served as a financial adviser and private client branch manager.
Originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kyle and his wife, Mary, relocated to southeast Tennessee in 2019.
