Voter registration in
Hamilton County has ex-ceeded 100,000. Registrar Al S. Barger said 200 to 250 citizens are registering daily on the county poll books. Deadline for registering to vote in the presidential election and in the county’s referendum on a $7,000,000 school bond issue is October 19.
Monday, October 10
Charles Howell Camp-bell, 32, Chattanooga business executive, and member of a distinguished family was electrocuted Monday night in the basement of his home on Lookout Mountain while repairing an electric pump. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gaines Campbell and the grandson of Mrs. C.H. Howell and the late Charles H. Howell. He is survived by his wife and four young children.
Tuesday, October 11
Mayor Olgiati returned Tuesday from Pittsburg where he attended a national conference on urban problems. The conference was called by Senator John F. Kennedy, the Democratic nominee for president, who addressed the meeting at a banquet night.
Thursday, October 13
Chancellor Clifford Curry approved a request by County Court Clerk Jack Hixson for authority to employ three additional deputies.
