Plastic Omnium breaks ground on Chattanooga plant

Automotive parts manufacturer Plastic Omnium broke ground last week on its new facility in Chattanooga. The facility, housed at Enterprise South Industrial Park, will produce automobile exterior components such as bumpers and fenders.

Plastic Omnium provides services to automobile manufacturers around the world and now here in Chattanooga as a tier one supplier for Volkswagen and other major auto manufacturers in the Southeast.

The new facility, to be built on a 27-acre site, represents a multi-million dollar investment that will create 184 new jobs by the time production begins in 2015 and expand to include 300 positions by 2018.

“Chattanooga is an ideal location for Plastic Omnium to serve the automotive industry in the Southeast,” said Marc Cornet, president and CEO of the Americas at Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors. “We appreciate our partnership with both local and state officials, who are working closely with us to establish this new operation.
