Events: Lace-up for Heart Walk




The American Heart Association will host its annual Heart Walk Saturday, Oct. 26, at AT&T Field. In addition to the walk, activities will include yoga, stretching exercises, hands-only CPR training, children’s activities and the annual T-shirt contest. Register at ChattanoogaHeartWalk.org.

Charity bingo

The Alpha Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will host its second annual charity bingo event to benefit the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defects Center on Saturday, Oct. 26, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 7111 Lee Highway. The doors will open at 6 p.m.

Southern Adventist University Classic Car Show

Southern Adventist University will host its 16th annual Antique and Classic Car Show on Sunday, Oct. 27, noon-3 p.m. in the Mabel Wood Hall parking lot.

Trophies will be awarded for Best in Show and People’s Choice. NASCAR chaplain John Earnhardt will host and serve as one of the judges. Activities will include Boyd’s Speedway Racecar Simulator, a rock-climbing wall, door prizes, demonstrations of a working forge and live big band music. Food vendors will include Clumpies Ice Cream, Fat Boys Roadside Eats, Tasty Donuts and Choo Choo Kettle Korn. The event is free and open to the public.

Crime prevention training for businesses

The Chattanooga Police Department will host free crime prevention training designed for business stakeholders interested in making their facility and employees as safe as possible Wednesday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at Coca-Cola Bottling Company, 2111 W. Shepherd Road. A crime prevention specialist from the University of Tennessee’s Law Enforcement Innovation Center will lead the course and a translator will be present for Hispanic and Latino business owners and employees. Remembrance for pregnancy and infant loss

Hospice of Chattanooga will observe National Month of Remembrance for Pregnancy & Infant Loss with a candlelight memorial service on Tuesday, Oct. 15, St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 4300 Locksley Lane. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and services will begin at 6:15 p.m. A reception will follow. Anyone who has been through the death of an infant during pregnancy or after birth is invited to participate in this free service.
