The Tennessee General Sessions Court Judges’ Conference recently presented the Hon. Clarence Shattuck with a lifetime achievement award.

The organization honored the retired Hamilton County judge during its annual conference, held this year in Chattanooga. The plaque reads, “In appreciation and recognition as an outstanding leader and for your exceptional contributions and long-term commitment to the judiciary and the Tennessee General Sessions Court Judges’ Conference.”

Hamilton County General Sessions Judge Gary Starnes presented the award to Shattuck.

The award was the first lifetime achievement honor the conference has given. Shattuck has been a member of the conference since taking the bench in Hamilton County in 1982.

Since retiring in April after 36 years, Shattuck has served as a special judge in General Sessions Court and competed with his local senior men’s basketball team in the 2019 National Senior Games in Albuquerque.

He has also, he jokingly tells people, received all of his pension checks on time.
