The Chattanooga Police Department is looking for applicants for its Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System program. The R.A.D. System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. It is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance, and then progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training.
The R.A.D. System is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by utilizing easy, effective, and proven self-defense tactics. It not only provides women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance, it also pits them against trained “aggressors” so they can put their training into action.
The R.A.D. class will begin Thursday. Oct. 29. Classes will be held every Thursday for four weeks from 5-8 p.m. at the Police Service Center. The class is limited to 20 participants.
Participants must be able to attend all four classes to sign up. The program is free and first come, first served. To sign up, call (423) 643-5013.
