Leaders from around the region last week gathered to tout the tax benefits of River Gorge Drive on Aetna Mountain and the Black Creek mountaintop development.
The first phase of Black Creek – known as The Pass – is under construction and will include more than 200 new homes. Later phases will include more than 1,000 new homes, a small commercial village and community amenities.
Black Creek’s mountaintop developments are within Chattanooga city limits and are already contributing tax revenue, notes a news release from the partners of Black Creek.
River Gorge Drive has already added more than $70 million in appraised value – an amount expected to grow in the coming years when Black Creek adds the new units to the tax rolls, the release continues.
“The opening of River Gorge Drive will bring a whole new Chattanooga community to life on Aetna Mountain, adding new homes, residents, jobs and tax revenue within our city limits while preserving the natural beauty of the area,” said Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly.
“We’re excited to share our vision for the future of Black Creek because all Chattanoogans will benefit from future development through increased tax revenue, economic activity, public access and natural land preservation,” added Andy Stone, managing partner at Black Creek.
Black Creek is a master-planned community nestled in a mountain valley located 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.
