As part of Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful’s effort to improve its community, local artist Mary Tomas is creating the city’s first public work of art – a mural.
A grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission and Arts Build is partially funding the mural, which Tomas and an army of volunteers are painting on the side of Wimpies Country Restaurant.
Terry Williamson, project manager, says he’s grateful to the people who donated money to the venture, Floyd Hardware, which provided supplies for the project, and Wimpies owners David and Pam Smith, who provided the canvas.
“It takes a village to plan and implement a project of this magnitude. We hope Soddy-Daisy residents and visitors will enjoy this artwork for many years to come,” adds Williamson.
