Coalition announces locations for drug take back campaign




The Hamilton County Coalition will set up 17 dropoff locations throughout the Chattanooga area during this month’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The event is free and confidential.

People should bring their expired or unused prescription medication in its original container with the personal information crossed out.

The drop-off locations are:

• Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 E. Third St.

• CVS – Jasper, 4712 Main St.

• Elks Lodge No. 91, 1069 Graysville Road

• Food City – Red Bank, 3901 Dayton Blvd.

• Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, 4801 Hwy. 58

• Sam’s Club – Lee Hwy., 6101 Lee Hwy

• Save-A-Lot – Cleveland, 122 Keith St. SW

• Signal Mountain Police Department, 1111 Ridgeway Ave.

• Walgreen’s – Brainerd, 3605 Brainerd Road

• Walgreen’s – Broad Street, 3550 Broad St.

• Walgreen’s – East Brainerd, 2289 Gunbarrel Road

• Walgreen’s – East Ridge, 5301 Ringgold Road

• Walgreen’s – Hixson, 5478 Hwy. 153

• Walgreen’s – Ooltewah (9307 Lee Hwy.)

• Walgreen’s – Soddy Daisy (121 Harrison Lane)

• Walmart – Dunlap (16773 Rankin Ave.)

• Walmart – Signal Mountain (501 Signal Mountain Road)

The Hamilton County Coalition will also host opioid overdose prevention and reversal training 11 a.m.-noon at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church during the drug take back event. Register for the training at www.hccoalition.org.

Last April’s National Prescription Drug Take Back event in Chattanooga drew 1,300 pounds of collected medication. Nationwide, the total amounted to nearly 500 tons of collected medication.

Since the Drug Enforcement Agency created National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in 2010, over 11 million pounds of unused or expired medications have been collected.
