The Granfalloon, 400 E. Main St., will host an Aretha Franklin tribute featuring Neshawn Calloway on Saturday, Oct. 13 beginning at 8 p.m. Calloway will be accompanied by her full band as she sings some of Franklin’s greatest hits. New Salem Mountain Festival
The 44th annual New Salem Mountain Festival will take place Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14. Exhibits will include pottery, paintings, furniture, wood turning, wood carving, stained glass, jewelry and more. Quilting will also be demonstrated. New Salem United Methodist Church will be serving home-cooked items, including homemade chicken stew, while a variety of other treats will be available throughout the grounds.
A variety of groups will provide live entertainment. Hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4
The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present the season’s first Chamber concert, “Beethoven Symphony No. 4,” on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Chattanooga State Community College Humanities Theatre. This concert will also feature “Villa Lobos’ Ciranda das sete notas” and Kenneth Frazelle’s “Laconic Variation.”
Public Medicare Advantage meetings
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee will hold a series of meetings in the Chattanooga area in the coming weeks to educate seniors about their health care options.
Medicare advocates from BlueCross will host the meetings, which are free and open to the public, throughout the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period. Artist talk at Townsend Atelier
Massachusetts-based visual artist Catherine Kehoe will present a free public lecture called “Shape Shift” at Townsend Atelier on Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 6-7 p.m. Kehoe will talk about the development of her artwork from art school until now and the people who have influenced her. Kehoe teaches painting and drawing at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Fireside: outdoor concert series
Fireside is a free outdoor concert series that gathers around a campfire at the City of Chattanooga’s Greenway Farm Park Thursday evenings in October from 7-9 p.m. The stage is located on the porch of the Sniteman Log Cabin behind the gardens at the park. Performers include:

18th annual Chattanooga Dances!

Photographic Society of Chattanooga open house
The Photographic Society of Chattanooga will host its annual open house on Thursday, Oct. 18. Award-winning photographer Mark Alberhasky will present a program titled “In Search of Critical Focus.”
Alberhasky’s photographic experience spans more than 40 years. He became a contributing photographer for Nikon in 2004 with placements as diverse as commercial ads, product packaging, magazine covers, textbooks, action sports publications and corporate installations.
Alberhasky has been featured multiples times in Nikon World magazine and the Nikon World calendar. Alberhasky teaches as a Nikon mentor for Pop Photo Magazine’s Mentor Series Worldwide Treks and leads trips for Photozonetours.com and private clients.
The program will begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served during a social hour beginning at 6 p.m.
