Members of Greater Chattanooga Realtors have chosen their leaders for the upcoming year.
The newly elected officers and directors will serve under the leadership of 2019 GCR President Kim Bass.
Keller Williams Realtor Brandi Pearl Thompson will serve as 2019 president-elect, while Keller Williams Realtor Joyce Smith will serve as secretary-treasurer.
Newly-elected directors include Beverly Boss, Derek English, Rachael Henderson, Steve Sharpe and Kevin Wamack.
GCR President Geoff Ramsey announced the results of a week of online voting that began in late September during the association’s annual membership meeting, held Thursday, Oct. 4 at The Mill. GCR members cast 680 ballots during the election.
“I want to thank all of our candidates. It’s hard to put yourself out there and it’s an honor to be asked by your peers to serve,” Ramsey said. “2019 is going to be an exciting year.”
Thompson has served GCR in a variety of roles since 2009, including secretary-treasurer (2018), director (2013, 2016), RPAC trustee (2017, 2018) and as a member of several committees and task forces.
Thompson was a top-50 finalist in the 2010 National Association of Realtors’ 30 Under 30 event and was honored with the Top Team award at Keller Williams Downtown two years in a row.
Thompson serves as a YMCA basketball coach for 5- and 6-year-olds and was a 2011 board member for Young Professional of Chattanooga.
“I wish to keep moving Chattanooga forward,” she said prior to the election. “And I want to continue making the world a better place.”
Thompson added that she hopes to keep GCR as the voice of real estate in Chattanooga by plugging the association into new trends and opportunities.
Smith has served as a GCR director (2008 and 2018) and as a member of several GCR committees. She also served as the president of the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) in 2007. Smith was named WCR Realtor of the Year in 2010.
She has served on the board of the Chattanooga Housing Resource Board, the advisory board of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency and the board of the local YMCA.
“Our association would not be what it is today without passionate leaders dedicated to making our industry better to serve our clients,” Smith said prior to the election. “I am ... committed to the industry and willing to work for the betterment of others. Serving as secretary-treasurer will give me the opportunity to influence change as needed for our colleagues and residents of our community.”
During GCR’s annual meeting, Ramsey also thanked the nominating committee, which consisted of Chair Dan Griess, Travis Close, Jennifer Grayson, John Payne, Sabrena Smedley, Vicki Trapp and Nathan Walldorf.
“Narrowing down the long list of applicants to the names that appeared on the ballot is not a position to be envied,” he said. “So thank you to the committee members for their time and to those of you who applied.”
The newly elected leaders will be installed in early January.
