One of Chattanooga’s hardest working real estate agents has been recognized for embodying everything it means to be a Realtor. During the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors’ 2015 Installation & Awards Ceremony, Geoff Ramsey was named 2014 Realtor of the Year.
Randy Durham, who led the selection committee, made the announcement. While stressing the importance of agents working together, he said certain individuals stand out from the crowd. “It is on those individuals that our Association bestows its highest honor – the Realtor of the Year award,” he said.
Before announcing the recipient, Durham mentioned some of the comments the members of the committee made regarding Ramsey, including “super ethical,” “always maintains a positive attitude,” “unassuming and modest demeanor,” and “a joy with whom to co-broker.”
In addition to the personal qualities that made him a candidate for Realtor of the Year, Ramsey actively gives back to his profession and his community. He is a noteworthy contributor to RPAC, both financially and in terms of his time. With regard to the latter, he’s served on the RPAC board of directors and made phone calls to solicit contributions. “Under this member’s leadership as 2014 RPAC Chairman, we exceeded our fair share goal and engaged several new major donors,” Durham said.
Ramsey also gives of his time and money to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2013, he helped to build St. Jude’s Dream Home and raise over $711,000 for the hospital. “He’s an all-around likeable guy who, when he commits, does so fully engaged,” Durham said.
Ramsey is a Re/Max agent working out of the company’s Shallowford Road location. He serves buyers and sellers in Tennessee and Georgia.
Ramsey grew up north of Knoxville in Clinton, Tenn. He moved to Scenic City in 1993 to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and start down the path to becoming a lawyer. However, the desire to start a career was strong enough to pull him out of school and into real estate.
A bachelor who admits to being married to his job, Ramsey doesn’t have children of his own. However, he does have a brother, Chris, in Knoxville, and enjoys being “Uncle Geoff” when he’s able to visit him during the holidays.
Ramsey is also an avid motorcyclist.
Surprised by the honor, Ramsey simply held back tears and offered a humble, “Thank you.”
“On this year’s application to run for the board of directors, this person wrote that they wanted to be involved in shaping and representing the business of the future,” Durham said. “And we think you’ll agree this person is part of our Association and our industry’s future.”
