Two local students who won in the Chattanooga Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Week poster contest last October also earned recognition statewide recently. At the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office awards ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 25, the winners of the state’s poster contest for Fire Prevention Week 2013 were announced.
Among the state-wide winners, Mackenna Hood won for the 8th grade and Tennille Rogers won for the 9th grade. Both students represented Boyd Buchanan School, and each received a certificate and a $50 check. The ceremony was held at the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy in Bell Buckle, Tenn. There were nearly 300 entries in the state-wide contest.
