Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga will perform its 2014 season opener, “The Color Purple,” Jan. 16 through 26. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Performances will take place in their theatre space at the Eastgate Town Center, located at 5600 Brainerd Road.
“I saw ‘The Color Purple’ on Broadway. It was a profound experience,” says director Garry Lee Posey. “I had read the book and seen the film, and each had touched me in different ways. The musical, however, touched me spiritually.
“The cast, mostly new to ETC, have come from all over, and the result of their hard work and commitment is paying off in an inspiring way.”

ETC’s production of “The Color Purple” is directed by Garry Lee Posey. The music director is Andrew Chauncey. Cast members include Ikeko Bass, Kimora S Bass, Zoe Chatman, Fallon Clark, Chelsea Crosby, Kignon Crowder Jr., Azusa Dance, Mary Edwards, Simone Edwards, L-Shante Faunteroy, Robin Flippin, Daniel Meeks, Allison Morris, Jermaine Purifory, Erica Richardson, Anthony Robinson, Lawrence Sneed, Jeremy Wilkins. and Terrence Wright. The stage manager is Casey Keelen.
