Miller & Martin has promoted attorneys Meredith Corey Lee and Merrill Nelson to membership in the firm.
Lee is a member of the litigation department and Nelson is a member of the corporate department.
Lee’s practice is focused on product liability litigation defense, including mass tort actions and class actions.
She represents clients in complex business disputes, including breach of contract, noncompete litigation and business torts.
Lee practices in state and federal courts and has represented clients at the trial court and appellate levels.
In addition to litigation defense, Lee represents clients with respect to the development and marketing of consumer products. This includes advising clients with respect to the FDA’s regulation of food, dietary supplement, cosmetic and drug products sold to consumers.
Lee holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Georgia School of Law.
She joined the firm in 2014 after practicing at a large international law firm and is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia.
Lee’s accolades include recognition among Best Lawyers Ones to Watch for Mass Tort and Class Action Defense Litigation and Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Stars for Business Litigation.
Nelson advises clients on a variety of corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital financing and general corporate contracting.
He has advised purchasers and sellers in business transactions in the manufacturing, health care, video production and industrial supply industries, among others.
Nelson has also worked with closely held businesses and owners on resolving ownership disputes and other corporate governance issues.
In addition, he counsels both founders and investors in negotiating private equity investments for startup and emerging companies.
Nelson serves on the board of Chattanooga Girl’s Leadership Academy, an all-female charter preparatory school, and is an active member of First Centenary United Methodist Church.
Nelson is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law and holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration. He also holds degrees in real estate and history from the University of Georgia.
He joined Miller & Martin in 2012 and is licensed in Tennessee.
