What was happening in Chattanooga in 1960
Sunday, January 15
The Tennessee Title Company of Chattanooga, Inc. will open for business Monday in its office in the new Provident Building, Don Aitken, vice president and manager, announced Saturday. Two other Chatta-noogans associated with Aitken in the new organization are Wiley O. Woods, Jr., as chief title officer, and Edgar S. Beck as title officer.
Tuesday, January 17
Col. Harrison W. Gill, Chattanooga architect, has been unanimously elected president of the Tennessee Society of Sons of the American Revolution, John R. Hollishead of Nashville, state secretary announced in a recent letter to state SAR chapters. Col. Gill succeeds the late Elbert R. Hays.
Thursday, January 19
Blackwell Smith, Jr., Miller Bros. official, has been named chairman of the 1961 Cancer Crusade in Chattanooga and Hamilton County, it was announced Wednesday by Mrs. William L. Montague, president of the local unit of the American Cancer Society.
Friday, January 20
City traffic and police officers praised the work of the Chattanooga Mothers’ Patrol and noted that only one accident has occurred in a school zone since the organization went into operation in September 1960.
