The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will dedicate its “Movie Masterworks” concert to the memory of local real estate mogul Fletcher Bright, who died Christmas morning at his home on Lookout Mountain.
CSO concertmaster Holly Mulcahy and the CSO strings will perform “Ashokan Farewell” during the concert to honor Bright, an avid supporter of the musical arts in Chattanooga and longtime patron of the CSO.
The CSO will present “Movie Masterworks” on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tivoli Theatre.
The evening will feature classical pieces from iconic movies, including the overture to Wagner’s opera “Tannhäuser,” which has appeared in more than 20 movies. The concert will also feature Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 22,” which will be performed with local pianist and Lee University faculty member Cahill Smith and is featured in the 1984 fictionalized biography of Mozart, “Amadeus.”
Additionally, the evening will include one of Prokofiev’s best-known works, “Lieutenant Kije,” and Korngold’s overture to “The Sea Hawk.”
The public is invited to attend a dress rehearsal for the performance on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7:45 p.m. in the Tivoli Theatre. Tickets to the rehearsal are $8. Attendees can pre-register online at chattanoogasymphony.org.

Following the concert, ticket-holders are invited to a reception held in the lobby with a chance to meet select musicians and guest artists.
