Judge Marie Williams named 2016 Lioness of the Bar
SETLAW honors Williams as a great lawyer, jurist, and friend

During its third annual Lioness of the Bar event Thursday, Aug. 11 at DeBarge Winery, the Southeast Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (SETLAW) named Hamilton County Circuit Court Judge Marie Williams its 2016 Lioness of the Bar. Judge Williams’ dedicated service on the bench and extensive philanthropy were cited as factors in her selection.


Chambliss attorneys listed in ‘Best Lawyers’

Twenty-two attorneys at Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel have been selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2017. In addition, Best Lawyers has named two Chambliss attorneys and one 2016 retiree as Lawyers of the Year.

East Ridge turns 95

East Ridge will throw a free 95th birthday party on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Camp Jordan. The party will start at 5 p.m. with the cutting of the birthday cake. The party will be held in air-conditioned comfort inside Camp Jordan Arena. Confederate Railroad will headline the event. The band will take the stage at 9 p.m. for a 90-minute set that will lead up to a 10:30 fireworks show. Smith and Wesley will begin a 90-minute set at 7:00 p.m. Diminutive Dynamite will get the Arena crowd moving at 6 p.m. For more information, call (423) 490-0078.


Chattanooga Zoo welcomes red panda cubs

The Chattanooga Zoo this month announced the birth of two red panda cubs. The two male cubs were born at the zoo on July 10 to first time parents, Wyatt and Maina.

“Having seen firsthand the threats red pandas face in the wild, I’m proud to play a part in their conservation through our work with the Species Survival Plan,” said Betsy Eckermann, red panda primary keeper. “The birth of two healthy, genetically diverse red pandas is exciting.”
