Jawbones vs. Sawbones tournament returns for third year
Although Barret Albritton was in law school before he really started playing golf, his team at last year’s Jawbones vs. Sawbones Golf Tournament played an outstanding game. Partnered with fellow Leitner, Williams, Dooley and Napolitan attorneys Ben Reese and John Hull, as well as potential client Ryan McCormick, Albritton helped his team to a first place victory.

Bar Auxiliary provides forum for friendship, volunteer work
Some organizations wear their charity work on their sleeves; others are subtler in their efforts to do good in their community. The Chattanooga Bar Association Auxiliary is one of the latter. Founded in 1966 to promote good relations among the spouses of legal professionals in the city, the Auxiliary is equal parts social club and charitable association. From wine tastings to penny auctions, there are plenty of opportunities for members to enjoy themselves while making a difference in the community.

An opinion on climate change and cow burps
I have had the opportunity to write on many numerous items that some writers would never have thought about putting their wordsmithery abilities to use on. I have written about free-range chickens, moles in the yard, coon hounds howling on a winter night, what you call city water piped to the country and a sundry of other way-out-there subjects that you may never see grace the pages of this publication again. Each has been an opinion expressed by yours truly and I have often received reactions from my readers that implied just how way out the articles may have been.

Case Digests - Tennessee court of appeals syllabus
Cherie Lynn Dennis vs. George Emmett Dennis,III
Hamilton County - Cherie Lynn Dennis (“Wife”) sued George Emmett Dennis, III (“Husband”) for divorce. After a trial, the Trial Court entered a Final Judgment that, inter alia, declared the parties divorced, distributed the marital property, named Wife the primary residential parent of the parties’ minor child with Husband to have visitation, and awarded Wife attorney’s fees. Husband appeals only the award to Wife of attorney’s fees. We affirm.

Sidewalk memories
Clark Griswold: Hey, hey, easy kids. Everybody in the car. Boat leaves in two minutes... or perhaps you don’t want to see the second largest ball of twine on the face of the earth, which is only four short hours away? — “National Lampoon’s Family Vacation”

I Swear...
But is the Pope really Catholic?
When she was a deputy prosecuting attorney, Jeannie Denniston sent me “the first chapter of [her] book,” giving me permission to use it as I pleased. This goes back a few years, but the story is worth re-telling.
“As deputy prosecutor of a sparsely populated rural county, I prosecuted not only petty criminals, but also violators of our game and fish regulations,” Jeannie wrote. And one day, before having accumulated all the experience that she would accumulate, Jeannie had to step up on short and prosecute on “Game and Fish Day.” Knowing little about the case, or the area involved in the case, Jeannie “began to just shoot from the hip.”

Weekly Indulgence
I’m not a big fan of vampires. Actually, I’m not a fan of any monsters or killers or creatures of lore. Quite simply, adrenaline rushes are no fun for me; anything that makes me feel the slightest bit scared is a complete and total turn off.
I am, however, a fan of a good book. And when my entire circle of girlfriends began buzzing about Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight,” my curiosity was piqued, ever so slightly.

Tyner Science Troupe: the best way to learn is by teaching
The purpose of Chattanooga’s Creative Discovery Museum is to provide education through fun, interactive programs and exhibits. Geared toward children 12 years old and younger, the museum strives to stimulate creative spirit and natural curiosity, as well as create excitement for learning through exploration of the arts and scientists.

New book honors forgotten son of liberty
With the exception of George Washington, there are more statues in the U.S. of Thaddeus Koscuiszko than any other American historical figure. And every day, thousands of cars cross the Koscuiszko Bridge between Brooklyn and Queens, as well as the Koscuiszko Bridge north of Albany. But who was Koscuiszko?

Realtor carrying on family tradition in Chattanooga
From the roof of Remax Renaissance on Cherokee Boulevard, Tony St. Charles can see most of his world. He points to One North Shore and Bridgeview, attractive downtown living accommodations across the street from where he works, noting how the former is nestled alongside Renaissance Park. Across the river, between the Market and Walnut Street Bridges is Museum Bluffs. Behind him, high on Stringer’s Ridge, is The Pinnacle, a condominium complex where he currently has listings. He can also see Signal Mountain, where he lives.

State-mandated course teaches responsible service of alcohol
A bartender most of his college career, Chris Phillips learned quickly how much money a bar can produce. Making fast cash and working long hours soon caught up with him, though, and when a bar he tended kept getting fined for their employees not being properly licensed by the state, he volunteered to become a certified trainer.

Do the math
After all your preparations and marketing efforts, what do you do when you get that first offer? Don’t jump for joy or wallow in disappointment until you’ve read all the terms. Price is just the beginning, and other contingencies will ultimately affect your bottom line.

Kay’s Cooking Corner
Last week Don and I went to Chicago for a few days for him to attend a meeting. During his off time we visited some of the many, many stores (of course)!
One of the stores was Macy’s (aka Marshall Fields). We have been in Chicago several times because Don’s brother, Jerry, lives there; however, no matter how long your stay there is absolutely no way you can visit everything in the downtown area. My point being, we had never been in Macy’s downtown Chicago – and it is big, old and

The Critic's Corner
I have an uncle who’s famous for telling a joke about a dead horse. When he delivered the punch line at his 90th birthday party, the entire room exploded in laughter, even though everyone had heard the joke many times before. It wasn’t the punch line that was great but the person telling it.
