UTC Pink Symposium to educate about early detection
When Carol Oglesby was asked to serve on the Komen Foundation board of directors earlier this year, she didn’t think twice about it. She jumped headfirst into her role and decided to learn all she could about breast cancer.
“There are lots of things involved with it but one of the things that really struck me is that all women are at the same risk,” she says. “It doesn’t matter whether you’re Caucasian, African American, Native American, you’re all at the same risk.”

After visiting the Monteagle Winery on the second day of my weekend vacation, I headed a few miles up the road to Tracy City. Several locals had told me that if I wanted to get a true taste for Monteagle Mountain, I had to visit the Dutch Maid Bakery.
State House and local sports hall of fame recognize senior athlete
Chattanooga resident Charlie Baker says his goal is to run the 400-meter race in as many seconds as he is years old. When asked about his age, he laughs and says, “If you’d asked me last week, I’d have said 82, but now I have to say 83.”
Not that Baker looks his age. He’s trim, agile and moves briskly, despite nursing a hamstring he pulled during a race in July. Walk with him and you’ll likely be afforded the same posterior view as most of his competitors in the Senior Olympics.
Southern Adventist University establishes Market Research Institute
A new market research institute will open on the campus of Southern Adventist University in October. The non-profit organization will work in conjunction with the school of business and management to administer market research and demographic analysis for businesses in and around Collegedale, Tenn.
ABR, e-Buyer courses to be taught at CAR October 21-23
The Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council, a division of the National Association of Realtors, defines a buyer’s representative as “an advocate for the buyer – not the seller – in a real estate transaction.” It goes on to specify that a buyer’s rep is legally responsible to his or her buyer clients, and works in the best interest of those clients through the duration of each transaction.

Speaking of fall fruits and vegetables, I have found several apple recipes, and because I couldn’t make up my mind on which one I liked the most, there are three! But that leaves very little space for much of anything else so without any further rambling, here’s just a bit of what’s in when, and some great recipes! And hey, save a bite of cake for me!
